Independent Financial Advisers
We are the Financial Services department of Gibbons Accountants and have been providing financial planning solutions for our clients since 1992. We are directly authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, are not part of or controlled
by any larger organisation and can therefore offer totally unbiased recommendations.
Based in the Workington office of Gibbons, we can meet you there or at any of our other offices in Maryport, Cockermouth and Whitehaven. We can also, if more convenient, meet you at your home or business premises. Find out more about our team. As we are part of Gibbons, this means that if you are also an accountancy client of the firm we can work closely with your accountant to provide a service considering all of your financial needs.
We aim to act fairly and impartially at all times and to communicate with you in a jargon-free, easy to understand manner. We aim to provide you with top quality advice and to treat you fairly in all matters. We will work in your best interests at all times.
Should you however be dissatisfied with our service and wish to make a complaint please contact us to request a copy of our complaints handling procedure. If we are unable to resolve any complaint to your satisfaction, you have the right to refer your case to the Financial Ombudsman Service, whose website address is:
Authorised and regulated
Our FCA Register number is 100813. We are authorised to provide advice on pensions and retirement planning, investments and insurance. You can check this by visiting the FCA Register or by contacting the FCA on 0800 111 6768.
Independent and impartial
We provide a fully independent advice service, whereby we will advise and make a recommendation for you after we have assessed your needs, based on a comprehensive and fair analysis of the market, with access to the widest possible range of products and companies. At Gibbons we believe strongly in the concept of best advice and consider that clients can only receive the best advice from advisers that are independent.
Our fees and charges
We will firstly arrange to meet you to discuss your financial circumstances, your needs and objectives and your requirements for advice. This is the first of four stages as detailed in the ‘how we work’ section of this website. It is important to highlight that the cost of this meeting is borne by Gibbons; there is no charge for it and also no obligation on either side.
At the initial meeting we will explain our fees for advice and give you a document detailing how our fees are calculated, depending on the areas on which you require advice. Before we proceed to the next stage we will explain how much our advice will cost and agree how it will be paid, which is either direct from you upon completion of the advice process or via deduction from any investment or pension you set up. In some circumstances, for example, advice on setting up a life assurance policy or arranging a mortgage, we can also be paid via commission from the provider recommended.
